What is an Eco Chic Wedding anyways?

The basic principles of an Eco Chic wedding are: Reduce, Reuse, And Recycle.  At Bloom, we are big supporters of the “green” movement in the flower industry and it is very important to us to sustain the beautiful environment we live in by implementing these basic principles.  Bloom can provide you with many ways to fulfill your desire to help the environment without compromising your wedding vision. We realize the importance of balancing style and taste with a conscientious decision to reduce the impact on the world’s natural resources.

We already do many things to play our part and we can offer additional options to the eco conscious bride to insure an environmentally and socially responsible event.  Below is a list of things we are currently implementing in our day-to-day operations.

1. We reuse and recycle flower-shipping material.  This saves over 2000 lbs of material from entering our waste system per year.

2. We offer brides and regular clients an affordable vase rental and recycling program.

3. We conserve and reuse a large percentage of our water.

4. We compost our green plant material.

5. We reduce emission levels by planning fuel-efficient delivery routes.

6. We do the majority of our correspondence with brides and other clients via email to reduce the amount of paper product waste.

7. We purchase Colorado grown flowers, which support local farmers and also reduces shipping waste.

8. We carefully plan and order flowers and products to eliminate any unnecessary “leftovers.”

In addition to the things listed above that we do, we can also further our environmentally responsible actions with a number of other options.  For the eco conscious bride, we can offer a limited range of organic fresh flowers, but they do come at an elevated price.  We can also offer a limited range of locally grown flowers, which can decrease fuel emissions and lower environmental impact.  An eco conscious bride could choose to avoid the 'green gardeners foam' with a wide range of alternative design styles.  One of our most popular choices is our reclaimed barn wood containers.  We also have a wide range of different vase styles that do not require environmentally unfriendly foam.  Some brides shoose stunning arrangements using live plants rather than cut flowers.  Whatever your vision, our design team will help you create the look you want.
